AJALA EMPOWERING GIRLS 2017

AJALA EMPOWERING GIRLS

Empowering Girls Through Education is an art exhibition which began out of the idea Marseille Shiyi Lin Troup, a grade 10 student at Greenfield Community School, Dubai had for her IB School Project. During her research, she found out that there are 30 million girls out of school and access to proper education could transform their lives for the better, so she decided to take action to help with the cause.

Shiyi reached out to The AJALA Project to help with organizing the event as her idea is fully aligned with our mission as an online social impact based art initiative. Shiyi was inspired by the story of Malala Yousafzai who was almost killed for defending her right to education and said "All I want is education and I'm afraid of no one" and her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak who believes 'that the empowerment of women is important to the future of the Emirates'.

I invite everyone to come and enjoy this unique art exhibition that highlights the important global issues of women's empowerment. I also thank The AJALA Project, artists and sponsors (AccorHotels, AECOM, DWP, W2W Events) for their support! - Shiyi Troup
